Jacopo completed his musical training at the “N. Paganini” Conservatoire in Genoa under the guidance of Nevio Zanardi, before continuing his studies at the Conservatoire of Alessandria with Claudio Merlo, where he got his master diploma in 2010. A particularly significant moment in his artistic development was his encounter with the cellist Antonio Meneses, which contributed to enriching his musical and interpretative vision.

After embarking on a freelance career in Italy, Jacopo developed a growing interest in early music and historically informed performance practice. In 2016, he moved to the Netherlands to further deepen his expertise in these fields. In 2019, he completed his studies in historical cello at the Utrecht Conservatoire under Viola de Hoog. On this occasion, he received a special mention for his performance of his own arrangement of Schumann’s Concerto for solo cello and string quintet.

Jacopo plays with various internationally renowned ensembles, including the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht led by Johannes Leertouwer, the Apollo Ensemble, Concerto Köln, Les Musiciens du Prince conducted by Gianluca Capuano, and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra led by Ton Koopman.

Alongside his concert activities, Jacopo has a deep passion for historical research. He focuses on rediscovering forgotten or rarely performed works, with the aim of presenting them to the audience in a fresh and informed manner. This resulted in the release of the double CD In copisteria del Conte in 2024, a musical journey through the salons of Genoa in the second half of the 18th century.

Jacopo plays a Neapolitan cello, built around 1800 in the workshop of the Gagliano family.
